Beatty McCleary (c1812)

The following is from a handwritten note presumed written by Jessie Stroan (McCleary) Boulden (c1900-c1990):
"Our grandfather, Beatty McCleary, had three brothers, James and Leonard, who farmed in County Monaghan, Ireland, and Joseph, who died when a young man studying for the ministry. James and Leonard were bachelors and Papa visited James on his trip to Ireland in the early 1880s. Beatty McCleary emigrated to Canada about 1835 with William Beatty Senior, father of James H. Beatty. He was foreman in the tannery William Beatty operated in Thorold and Papa became bookkeeper in the lumber mill also started by William Beatty. Later, Papa and John McLean bought the lumber mill. Beatty McCleary was married twice. His first wife was a Miss Gamble, a sister of Mrs. Robert Sharp. They had one child - Mary, who married a Mr. Lucas, and they moved to Liverpool, England, where Papa visited them. Robert Sharp was also related to the McCleary's in Ireland, as were the Beatty's also."
