The earliest mention of one of our Holloways to date is that of Edward's father, a sailmaker named Francis John Holloway, born in England c1800. His wife's name is currently unknown.
Edward was born in England in 1831 and married Mary Ann Peterson (born England 1827, daughter of John) at Christ Church, Parish of St. George in the East, Middlesex, 07 Mar 1850.
They had four children, all born in England before emigrating to Wellington County, Ontario - where they appear in the 1871 census - sometime around 1870: Francis John (b04 Sept 1851),
Edward (b1861), Sarah (b1862) and George (b1869).
Two other Holloway families appear in the 1871 Wellington census:
William (52), born England and wife, Jane (51), with children William (12), born Ontario; David (6) and Malissa? (5). Living with them was Mary Jane (17...I think, and a Wesleyan Methodist), and
John (24), born Ontario, wife, Elizabeth (25) and son, John (1).
Could William be a brother of Edward and the father of John?
